Designed for children of all ages and their families, Sounding Piñatas invites participants to imagine, make, play, and share in a joyful, hands-on exploration of sound and creativity. Guided by artist Diana Benavidez and musician Teresa Diaz de Cossio, this free bilingual (English/Spanish) workshop reconsiders the piñata — not just as a festive object, but as a powerful symbol of community, creativity, and resistance. Through collaborative making and play, families will create and activate their own “sounding” piñatas, transforming everyday materials into playful instruments that celebrate the season and strengthen social connection. No experience is required; curiosity is encouraged.
