Experience Ghostly Labor by La Mezcla, a polyrhythmic, San Francisco–based dance and music ensemble rooted in Chicana, Latina, and Indigenous traditions and social justice. Founded by Dance/USA fellow Vanessa Sanchez, La Mezcla blends tap dance, Son Jarocho, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms to illuminate the unseen histories of communities of color. This powerful multidisciplinary performance honors the workers whose labor has often gone unseen—and celebrates the joy of collective resistance.
Following the performance, join ArtPower, La Mezcla, and Fandango Fronterizo for a free community fandango! Fandango Fronterizo—a 17-year-old grassroots organization based in Tijuana—brings Son Jarocho music education and connection to the Tijuana–San Diego border region.
No experience is needed—everyone is welcome to learn, listen, and join in the celebration! Bring your instruments or dance shoes if you have them, but it’s not required.
