Jólabókaflóð is an Icelandic Christmas tradition that started during WWII at which friends and family gift each other books and enjoy a festive beverage. We're celebrating our own way with a book exchange!
How will it work?
Before You Arrive
Pick a book (new or lightly used) that you'd like to gift! (It doesn't have to be a romance novel, but it should be a book you love.)
Wrap it (at home)!
Bring it with you on the 13th!
(Note: If you don't have a book you'd like to bring, you can order one on our website and we can wrap it so that it's ready for you to pick up at the event. Please place orders by 12/11 for books that we have in stock in the shop.)
At The Event
First, we'll have tags and suggested buzzwords to write on them so that you can share a little bit about what the vibe is of the book hiding inside your wrapping.
Then, it's book swap time! We’ll flood a table with all the wrapped books and everyone will pick out a new-to-them read.
Grab a Maeve Chocolate candy cane bon bon and then settle in (find a spot on the floor! maybe bring a pillow!) for a half hour of reading to get started on your new books!
Finally, make a to-go cup of hot chocolate at our hot chocolate bar for the trip home with your new-to-you mystery book!
